History and Presentation of the College
Established in the year 1814, the school belongs to the Christian church and was converted to a Buddhist school after its takeover.
The English medium was originally started as a boys’ school. Students from all over the island have come to this school for residential education. Students from foreign countries have also studied in this college.

Principal’s Note
Buonavista College is a school which has a proud history of more than 200 years and has produced a number of world renown eminent scholars, two presidents and the greatest writer of our country.
Over the time, by 2016, which had been restricted to 17 students and when the authorities were trying to shut it down, I was appointed to this school on a transfer based on political move.
I, adapting to the relevant and to the school, admitted 210 students by the beginning of the year 2017.By today, creating novel opportunities for students, and amidst a host of difficulties , school is passing its third year of the renaissance. So Let’s determine to continue the journey with the contribution of the parents and the blessings of the past pupils for another century. We are looking forward to blessing of all who can to continue this nationwide endeavor.
